I won't merge this patches. bdb will soon be part of libnbcompat, so
 this woun't apply anymore.

Hi Joerg,

this patch is available now. Which time frame is estimated before bdb will be part of libnbcompat? I've read about a lot of questions regarding pkg_install and bdb on pkgsrc-users@ archive.

I understand that you wont apply a patch which will become obsolete in near future. But maybe it makes sense for those who require a solution for now to tell them about the availability of this workaround.
