Re: after upgrade to 10.2 nvidia card, no console with nouveau, autocnfiguration error

Hi,

Hi,

I have a ThinkPad T61 with nvidia card. It was running 9.3 fine (or 9.4?), with working framebuffer console and X11.

With all the new updates, I decided to jump 9.5 and go straight to 10.2.

Now boot messages stop after nouveau0 detection, nothing else comes.
Interesting is that it is not a complete freeze or crash (as I am accustomed with other nouveau, as my older ASpire which I will report about later). I saw the HDD icon blinking and caps-lock works. Thus I can poweroff the laptop via ACPI and reboot with -c, disable nouveau and prove that at least without framebuffer the system comes up with 10.2 and also that the system is not frozen.

I decided to update to NetBSD 11.0 and try my luck, but the behaviour remains. nouveau doesn't load, but doesn't lock the machine either. This is a regression compared to 9.x series, unfortunately. If I disable nouveau, I get no console, X11 comes up and there is no acceleration. So the rest seems still fine.

Any way to get back nouveau?

Thanks,

Riccardo
