Aryabhata's reply appears to be LLM generated.  Several things in[q it
seemed off to me.  In general, I believe it is impolite to ask humans to
read LLM-generated text, so I'm not going to pay attention to it in
detail.  Future readers are cautioned from accepting it uncritically.

Up to you, but the advice given is useful to others reading the archive,
not just to you.  And NetBSD people are not going to remain silent when
you say "I don't want to do X" and they think the right answer is X :-)

I think the big point is to use the right number of disks in RAID5.  It
would be interesting if you tried that (3?) and reported back.

My own view over the years has been that software RAID5 is not a good
idea, and that the cost savings are not so great (because I don't store
video, and thus don't really have that much data) compared to RAID1.
