Older is relative :-) I have NetBSD running on MB/MBP from 2006, 2008,
and I think 2010. I think the 2008 MBP has an athn that sort of works,
and the others I cannot use builtin wifi.

I just put a build of netbsd-10 onto a MacBookPro5,1 (mid 2010 I
think). The Wifi was not recognized; it's a BCM chip and those are
known for not having free software drivers. I have stuck a urtwn in USB
and that works ok.

I have never tried that. I don't really understand how the gestures
work. Do they work on NetBSD on any trackpad? Is there some software
layer that takes raw trackpad data and synthesizes them? Is this
something that the trackpad does? Does it need to be programmed?
Perhaps sniff the wires when it's running macOS, reverse engineer and
write a driver? (Not that helpful I know...)
