I’m using nv on NetBSD on my desktop now and have never noticed a problem. 
Window contents update when moving windows around, etc.

I’ve never tried watching video on NetBSD, but I know video played fine on 
FreeBSD-amd64 using the nv driver.

Are you sure your issues with nv on Linux are not related to your setup?
