Service Engineer - Games Team Important: 5 or more years experience in technical operations and additional exposure to tool/product development. Knowledge of Unix/Linux/FreeBSD, Apache, MySQL? Databases, shell scripting, Perl, PHP, performance tuning concepts, and web applications. Experience with a high-volume website is expected. Helpful: . BS in Computer Science * DBA and Network Appliance experience * Experience leading peers and demonstrating accountability for team and/or product architecture and support. * Experience organizing projects and reporting on status as well as driving issues to resolution. * Experience deploying services to international audiences * Demonstrable experience in one or more languages such as: Java or C What you do: * Take project requirements and map them to hardware and operating system configurations * Work closely with development teams to ensure products are built to optimum performance and maintainability standards. * Develop project definitions that aid the supportability and performance of Media Group products. * Lead Service Engineering efforts to address system and/or product issues, or to positively impact the availability, performance, or maintainability of Media Group products. * Actively participate in architecture design teams as a key contributor to product definition and future implementation planning. * Communicate product Service Engineering status effectively to peers, partner organizations, and management. * Maintain distributed systems for fault detection and SLA compliance. * Develop and implement tools to monitor performance, uptime, and availability metrics. * Integrate tightly with other Yahoo Operations groups to address service outages and capacity planning. Driving task completion with other Yahoo partner groups is essential. Ideal candidate must possess a broad range of computer science skills.
