System and Services Ops Linux Engineer Music/Entertainment Operations Team Important: * 5+ years of Unix administration, FreeBSD and/or Linux preferred * Extensive experience with web servers (primarily Apache, but Squid helpful as well) * J2EE/JBoss/JCluster experience * Strong Perl, Python, PHP development * Experienced in Unix Shell scripting * Networking protocols (TCP, UDP) and diagnostics * familiarity with ethereal/tcpdump/netstat/lsof * understanding of higher-level protocols like SNMP, SMTP and HTTP * good communication skills Helpful: * Network Appliance (NetApp) administration * Java * MySQL * HTML or other documentation language * XML, REST, SOAP * Windows * NetSaint/Nagios * understanding of network ACLs * Software configuration management: CVS, Perforce * Build automation and deployment scripts The successful candidate will have REALLY strong Unix experience with solid Apache experience experienced with networking and HTTP. Very experienced and comfortable with scripting languages like shell/perl/awk/sed scriting, Perl, Python applicable to automations, system monitoring in highly available web services and applications. Nice to have: . experience with Nagios . familiarity with Java, SOAP and REST web services The ideal candidate will be able to handle day-to-day Unix administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Strong Unix experience, ideally on Redhat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 4) and/or FreeBSD running Apache web servers. Experience with Java technologies (like JBoss and Tomcat) is also important. The candidate must work with a wide variety of teams to set up and troubleshoot DNS, VIPs, NFS shares (especially on NetApps), develop and maintain monitoring software and systems tied to near-real-time operational dashboards. Programming or software development experience is helpful, but the ability to write Perl/Python or shell scripts to automate tasks and monitor system health is a minimum.
