 I did that. Unfortunately, the problem then does not show up (maybe=20
 because or the explicit 'stty cols rows'?). In the typescript file,=20
 neither the printf ... nor the sdiff ... output lines show the above=20
 character sequences.
 
 Same when I open 'xterm -g 140x25'.
