 Something is fishy: I rebuild a new kernel, without COMPAT_BSDPTY, and
 can't reproduce the error - please close.
 
 (Odd scientific method: have kernel without compat option, X11R6 works, X11R7
 doesn't. Build kernel with option, they both work. post pr. build kernel
 without option, still both work. logic failure..)
