sorry - user error, wpa_supplicant.conf was wrong. Checking with another laptop shown it.
So no issues 11RC4 connects fine.The only "issue" is that it does not pull up the interface correctly, but that has been always so. Martin hacked the driver long time ago for me to get it working at all, but it remained such way I guess. Not a "regression" in any case.
