Hello,

I supported xserver for bebox and prep of last year. It is very old

And, I am trying the build of xserver again at present for bebox and
prep at current.

Some problems exist though I think that I want to merge these. I do
not know the operational rule of xsrc at all.

Please go ahead!

 Who can advise me?

That would be mrg@ and myself.

1. Some PReP mounts S3 864 onboard with GENDAC.
In a word, s3_GENDAC.c is necessary. I take the source from old
xfree86. Do we mentenance this implementing only by us? Or, is it
asked for to Xorg for merging, and is it taken?

We have plenty of our own code in xsrc, the xorg people don't seem to be very interested in anything that's not linux or about modern hardware.

2. Present S3Probe seems not to operate correctly. Should I repair
S3PciChipsets? Or, should I implement PciProbe()?

I'm not familiar with the S3 driver at all but I'll have a look. I think you should do the former to avoid losing support for VL chips, the new probing method is PCI only IIRC.

And, should I manage the correction only for NetBSD?

I'd say for now in xsrc, when it works you can always post it to xorg- devel and see if anyone picks it up. My SBus drivers were summarily ignored for example.

have fun
Michael
