atto(1): ncurses (libgnumenu) compatibility fixes

Not super important for us (other than possibly improving the
correctness of the menu code), but people are already asking for a
portable version.

Touch the underlying window of popup menus so that they get drawn
properly.

Ensure that the previous menu is erased when switching to a new one.
