I just thought I'd mention that I did used to see this and I've never used 
hvm. I never investigated and the only config change that I've done, that 
_may_ have effected this was to removed stp from the bridge config.

All I really know is that it's not happening anymore ... and I'm on current 
with a bge interface. It was quite a long time ago too (mid to late 2007 
maybe).
