To make sure they're not going nuclear, we have "cron" jobs (on Solaris 10)
that do

/usr/sbin/prtpicl -v -c temperature-sensor | /usr/bin/egrep 'mb|Temperature'

to monitor the temperature sensors.

Is there any support in NetBSD (or FreeBSD?) for reading this sort of processor temperature sensor data? It would be nice to see how close to nuclear I am. :-)
