The first pair worked fine in another (non-sparc) machine so I've no idea why the Sparc20 didn't like them.
Speaking of which, I have a 4GB Fujitsu SCA disk which won't work reliably on an 8 bit bus ( as in, internal bays in an SS20 or U1-non- E ) - loads of bit errors when writing but the same disk works fine in an O2, U60, Blade 2500 etc.
