thank you for your example. I have a very similar setup, just have less
NetBSD partitions.
The part I did miss is that I had the need to manually create in
disklabel to match the MSDOS partition created with fdisk and align the
other. Some paper to write down start and size in cylinders.

Now I was able to install everything! Being able to format and mount
msdos from the CD and your suggestion of ./usr/mdec/ofwboot.* in the
targetroot were precious.

I still am booting by typing the bootloader in openfirmware, but the
system works.

Now what I notice is:
- System comes up, console framebuffer, X11, touchpad, gem0 ethernet
- no wifi detected! Yet before wiping the hD, it worked in 10.4 missing
driver or missing setup, firmware?
- no openGL .. glxgears performs like on 386 with a trident video
- fans are off [1]
- no backlight brightness control
- keyboard is always dark [2]

Now I got this PowerBook G4 off ebay. So [2] may be explained by the
system not having the ambient sensors, maybe in that case the kyboard
has no LEDs... I am used to my other PB which has them

Also about fans... [1] ith might be a system issue. While clean one fan
may be broken. Or could the kernel not power one one?
I see now artefacts on the screen and the system froze under use. So
perhaps I cooked it...
