Either your clock chip is broken or there's another flavour of NSLU2 with a different clock chip. Any chance you could crack the case and read the chip's part number?

It looks to be the standard Xicor part. I see that Debian uses an internal clock while running, not the RTC. Is the same true of NetBSD?
