Heh.  (I must admit, I did debate with myself before sending.  Perhaps
I should have refrained.  Maybe I'm mellowing in my old age.)

Then we have the question of what Steve saw that prompted "...its copy
of tar had the same dependencies".  Perhaps it's just the "run gunzip
from $PATH" issue?  I hope so....
