Forgot to add this paragraph before sending:

Usually the way to figure this out is a complete 'diff -ru' between the 
two GCC header trees, search for the magic internal defines that 
completely alter the compiler behaviour, then work backwards to find out 
what is causing them to be set/unset and figure out how to avoid that 
happening by changing the build environment or configure options, or 
occasionally by patching GCC itself.
