I have no particular opinion (other than my long-standing bias against
removing things that aren't ipso facto junk) but according to my notes
from when I last tried to fix it, it needs to be updated by at least
two major versions and that's the obvious thing to start with...

(no reason to move it to wip just to do that, it's bust so all changes
are improvements)
