Nasty. Is it helpful for people to call out failures as they find them or does would it be better to hold off rebuilding things for a few days until the dust has settled?

We have a number of platforms that perform daily bulk builds of pkgsrc trunk and post them to the pkgsrc-bulk@ mailing list, and in an ideal world folks would read those reports and act on any failures. The gd issue can be seen here:

  https://mail-index.netbsd.org/pkgsrc-bulk/2023/10/12/msg024425.html

That said, not everyone reads the bulk build reports, and sometimes it's not easy to spot new failures in amongst the forest of long-term issues.

So while I'd much prefer we invested effort into reducing bulk build failures, and improved tooling around highlighting new failures, for now it unfortunately does seem expedient to have duplicate bug reports on other mailing lists like this one as they often get seen by some developers sooner and fixed quicker.
