archivers/unzip says wrong password on NetBSD, same password accepted on Linux

On NetBSD 8.0_RC1 amd64, using archivers/unzip utility as:

unzip -P <passwd> <filename>

draws invalid password error.

whereas the same file with same password is unzipped correctly on Linux
with base unzip (CentOS).

Both have the same version string as:
UnZip 6.00 of 20 April 2009, by Info-ZIP. Maintained by C. Spieler. Send

ldd on both systems shows:

On NetBSD:

$ ldd /usr/pkg/bin/unzip
/usr/pkg/bin/unzip:
        -lz.1 => /usr/lib/libz.so.1
        -lc.12 => /usr/lib/libc.so.12

On Linux:

$ ldd /usr/bin/unzip
        linux-vdso.so.1 =>  (0x00007ffdd4d89000)
        libbz2.so.1 => /lib64/libbz2.so.1 (0x00007fa78ac16000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x00007fa78a853000)
        /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x000055806a040000)

pkgsrc is not seen providing any options.

May be some configure option missed out?
