That's been my experience. Firefox does auto-update it's plugins and 
extensions and I'd prefer that to be enabled by default. However, I've 
noticed that we compile from the "nightly" releases and I do get a dialog 
every now and then that says "Nightgly" is now too old and I should update 
blah blah. That, I could do without, since it fails anyway and it's trying 
to update the actual firefox binaries & libs.
