kde4 issues with 4.8.4 under NetBSD 6.0_RC2

Just had a play around with kde from the latest pkgsrc under 6.0_RC2. Had a 
compilation issue with rocs (workaround by commenting out the dependancy in 
the main kde4 Makefile)

Bring kde4 up in a user with an clean filesystem produces a few crashes, in 
particular knotify dies with signal 6. Having let kde create all its files I 
restarted it, scripting the output and there are a huge number of error 
messages:

QKqueueFileSystemWatcherEngine::addPaths: open: Too many open files

A quick google shows a few hits regarding issues with the digikam application 
under MacosX, but the problem seems to impact on all the applications under 
NetBSD. Reading between the lines the filewatching code should be using 
kqueue, but maybe it isn't.

An extract of the first few lines from starting kde:

I  am also baffled by the early messages:

QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication.

Why is this happening - does anyone else see this?

BTW dbus & famd are already running from rc.conf

Any words of enlightenment appreciated ...
