I just checked, they seemed ok:

drwxr-xr-x 3 rhialto wheel 512 Apr 8 16:31 ./
drwxr-xr-x 573 rhialto wheel 16384 Jul 10 11:49 ../
drwxr-xr-x 2 rhialto wheel 512 Apr 8 16:31 CVS/
-rw-r--r-- 1 rhialto wheel 175 Mar 3 14:10 DESCR
-rw-r--r-- 1 rhialto wheel 924 Mar 23 16:40 Makefile
-rw-r--r-- 1 rhialto wheel 154 Mar 3 13:07 PLIST
-rw-r--r-- 1 rhialto wheel 393 Mar 3 13:07 buildlink3.mk

I tried a new update in the directory itself and I got something
different, better:

.../pkgsrc/x11/py-vte$ netbsd-cvs update -A -r pkgsrc-2011Q2
cvs server: warning: cannot open /cvsroot/CVSROOT/val-tags read/write:
Permission denied
cvs server: Updating .
P Makefile
P buildlink3.mk

where netbsd-cvs is a little script that sets CVSROOT. Hmmm I haven't
updated the script to the new cvs mirror yet, it seems. I suppose that
may well be related... I'll correct that and see what happens then.
