Re: kde4 bin packages

Well, i can do the same, but the problem is that... as long as no binary packages available for kde4, very few people can compile and test it... So, my plan is once NetBSD5 is released, i will compile and place bin packages on a server, so that test phase will be shortened -hopefully.

Today, i have just installed FreeBSD 7.1 and added Kde4 to check its performance, usability on a nix machine and really disappointed... Good looking but it was as if i'm using a Vista, bad performance! I think it has been optimised for Linux machines because Suse performance is much better.

Thanks.
Cem

Hello!

I would like to test kde4 on amd64 machine, but compiling only kdebase4
takes sooo much time and resources. Isn't it possible to create packages of
kde4 for NetBSD5? Or is it possible to move it from wip to pkgsrc just
before/after NetBSD5 is released (if it is stable enough)?

Regards,

If it's any help, I can build kde4 for you, but it won't be faster.
If I have something huge to compile, I usually let the computer turned
on while being at work.
As for the ressources, I'm using VMware on my iMac with 1 cpu (50%).
This way I can do
desktop stuff while compiling and avoid rendering the computer
completely unusable.

Cheers, Zafer.
