Unfortunately, I've already gone and cleaned everything. But the output from 'make package' was identical to what you would get when running 'make install' where it says that

        <package> is already installed, perhaps an older version?

And then it goes to suggest some alternatives, such as 'pkg_delete <blah>' followed by 'make reinstall'.

I'll see if I can reproduce again later today.
