I have database/gdbm_compat package for secuirty/pam-af on Linux locally.
Just do "make install-compat" after build of the databases/gdbm
(modified to share Makefile fragments with gdbm and gdbm-compat).
Its PLIST is followings and not depend on databases/gdbm package.
include/dbm.h
include/ndbm.h
lib/libgdbm_compat.la
