It's great to read you :)
Some ominous message coming from Devuan Linux at boot time
[ 2.662948] r8169 0000:03:00.0: error -EIO: PCI read failed
[ 2.663022] r8169 0000:03:00.0: probe with driver r8169 failed with
error -5
ifconfig won't even show the interface..
Now I don't know if this is a faulty chip or is not supported, but that
probe failure does not look. This is my dad laptop and he always uses
wireless.
More detailed info of the device.. look particularly at
"pcilib: sysfs_read_vpd: read failed: No such device Not readable"
Don't know... it might be an issue or just some private registry.

Thank you! I guess opening and checking the inside might bring some
clues... will also check for BIOS updates.. but it does not look very
promising... It's a old laptop (2013) and I might silently place it back
on my dad's room before things get worse than what they are today :D
Keep you posted.
Best
Luis
