We have a bunch of improvements ( like EXA support for cg14, cg6, ffb,
and a few homegrown drivers for things like mgx ) that are slowly being
fed back to xorg.
I recently added 8bit acceleration support for cg14, because people
asked for it ( a 4MB cg14 can run 1920x1080 in 8bit but would be
limited to 1152x900 in 24bit. Some people prefer resolution over colour
depth )
