Thanks for the tip. I remember reading syslog man pages some time ago
and some of them support TLS as you mentioned.
For example, I could extract recent messages from /var/mail and append
them to a log file. Or may be configure Postfix to pipe messages to a
script which then uses syslog. Instead of sending email alerts, the
syslog would consolidate all messages in one central log server.
I think I will try different methods and see which one works best.
