I can't see what would look like a crash here.

I had to force the use of the modesetting driver to get a working X
(with the xorg.conf fragment I posted earlier).

But to get a working X with acceleration I had to switch to modular Xorg:
- remove /usr/X11R7/
- add to /etc/mk.conf
X11_TYPE=       modular
- run 'make install' in pkgsrc/meta-pkgs/modular-xorg
  you may want to install graphics/glx-utils too
