You don't mention where you are, and if 12 is an authorized channel there. Keep in mind that the signals are wider than the channel widths. You can read the soruce code, but I would be surprised if this is hardcoded in NetBSD. I would think it more likely to be in the firmware/ROM of the adaptor. What country are you in? In what country was the adaptor originally marketed? Is channel 12 authorized in either?
