You can try `pkg_admin rebuild' first.

Spot on... Removing it gets me going with the build.

Don't recollect what forced me to add. The same build can cause the
problem now - whenever I have to revisit it.

BTW, my main problem was pkg_add dumping core when installing net/aria2.
So wanted to try pkg pkg_add.

Added PKG_TOOLS_BIN=/usr/pkg/sbin and made a clean build of aria2.

I still have the same issue. But the stack trace is different from what
base pkg_add had shown. (Shared on a different thread.)
