How to turn off microphone on handheld

Hello,

I just purchased an mbook m1 from Korea (dmesg pasted below). Whenever I
close the lid, I get horrible audio feedback. Could some kind soul tell me
how I can turn the whole sound system off or, failing that, turn off the
microphone? The mbook turns off the screen when you close the lid which
saves power, so I'd like to be able to do that.
