I take it does not work on 5.1,
even though a:
-bash-4.2$ strings - /lib/libc.so.12 | grep no-check
no-check-names
-bash-4.2$ ldd /sbin/ping
/sbin/ping:
        -lm.0 => /lib/libm.so.0
        -lc.12 => /lib/libc.so.12
        -lipsec.2 => /lib/libipsec.so.2
-bash-4.2$

did lead me to the thinking it would.
