I thank all those who replied . . . Martin was right about
"insist[ing]" that the install go ahead as if there is a web
connection. I insisted and so far so good ;-)

The one thing I am wondering about is the sanity of such a "sanity
check," if such an issue, like mine, arises. Is my issue not common?
