If you are installing from pkgsrc it seems that 'startkde' is not in
the "base" pkg (for ver. 4) but in kdebase-workspace4. (The meta-pkg
for kde4 includes it...)

Check your installed pkg list by doing:

$ pkg_info | grep kde
