Hi,

I just installed NetBSD 5.1 on an Intel Core 2 Duo system. The system seems stable, but there are some issues and I am much more familiar with NetBSD 4. My question is, will NetBSD 4 be stable on Core 2 Duo with Sata drives? The server is in another location and it is a real problem to do an install on it, but it may be worth it if it will work.

Thanks,
Al

1. What are those issues that you have with 5.1 ?

2. What are the differences between NetBSD 4 and 5.1 that disturb you?

It doesn't seem to like its built in network port. Also, it seems to have many errors when I mount NFS partitions. The "top" command doesn't work like it did in 4.0. Also, nginx doesn't seem to work or at least work right (this could be related to the network issue). I guess the real issue though is that the configuration that worked fine on a PowerPC NetBSD 4.0 system doesn't seem to work on NetBSD 5.1. The other issue is that it seems to have burst of speed and then it is doing nothing. I guess that it could be that I am just use to running on PowerPC hardward and the problem isn't even with NetBSD 5.1 at all. It is just that when my websites are down it doesn't make me very happy.

Thanks,
Al
