USB keyboard ate my Print Screen

I've a few different x86 netbsd-5 machines. Some have pkgsrc X.org, some are using in-tree X.org. Some are using xkb, some are using xmodmap. They do have one thing in common though, with a USB keyboard the "Print Screen" generates no events in xev. A PS/2 keyboard works fine.

ukbdmap.c places the wskbd PrintScreen symbol on usb keycode 70 and "wsconsctl -f /dev/wskbd1 map" shows Print_Screen is keycode 70.

Any clues?
