Yes, "ttcp" is very useful. And there is also "netio" in "pkgsrc"
which comes with a Win32 binary in case one of the machines
runs *shudder* Windows.

Although netio is widely used by some of the customers in my day job, it
was confirmed that it's a 10-year-old program that's only meant for
short test runs and can send odd traffic to odd ports.

Day job usually uses netperf and iperf as well as ttcp and more
expensive alternatives.
