5.0 and Gnome 2.26: slow gnome-terminal

Hi!

I updated a 2Ghz Celeron machine with i845G graphics to NetBSD 5.0 and
Gnome 2.26 from the 2009Q1 pkgsrc.

The gnome-terminal appears extremely slow to me. When doing "ls -R /" the
constant scrolling drives the system load to 100%. Loading a file into a
terminal-based editor (like vi or joe) and scrolling up and down is extremely
jerky and the load also approaches 100% after a few seconds.

Is this a known problem? Something wrong with XOrg or Gnome?

For a test I exchanged the "intel" XOrg driver with "vesa", but there was not
much difference.

Before, the system ran NetBSD 3.1.1 with Gnome from a 2007 pkgsrc, which was
very fast and responsive.
