I'm desperate.

Warning: no xauth data; using fake xauth data for authentnication forwarding

... despite "ssh -X"... what's wrong? 

Client is ssh (netbsd-4.0.1), server either the same machine, or
OpenSSH-something on Solaris 8, or the builtin ssh on Solaris 10.
