Same driver here.

The drives work fine with an Adaptec 2940U2W (40MB/s). And unter FreeBSD the drives were also connected at full speed. This seems to be a driver issue.

Here is a part of my dmesg using FreeBSD 7.0-STABLE on the same machine:
