Hints for a WLAN Link?

Hi folks,

I want to setup a link between two points using atheros (ath) cards.
are there suggested sysctl values?
How do I increase the transmit power?

How should they be with 3km, 3.5km, 4km distance?
I am using a 21dbi yagi antenna, but I have no way of testing it before 
somebody will bring it to that 
place. Only in my not so big office...
