Proper way to replace XFree86/xdm with Xorg/xdm

Hi,

On my VIA CLE266 based machine, I first try the stock XFree86 distribution.
It works quite nice, but Xorg (from pkgsrc) seems better.
What is the proper way to replace the stock xdm stuff with the one from
pkgsrc now that /usr/X11R6 was filled up during install ?

I started `chmod 000 /etc/rc.d/xdm` but there are quite a few references
for /usr/X11R6 stuff in various xdm related conf file. Is there an easy
way to do the replacement other than Find&Replace ?

TIA,
        Jo
