Those are all flash media in an SCM Microsystems PCD-50B SCSI card reader. 
Mac OS can't see things on anything that's not LUN 0, but NetBSD sure can. 
I've had no issues with it on this machine or on a VAXstation 4000/30.

I won't have a chance to try out a spinning rust drive for a week or two, 
but I'll give that a go, too.
