     I don't know about that switch in particular, but it is known
that some switches/devices won't do NWay when manually configured.
It is also known that some switches/devices won't do what they are
told if they don't receive NWay info indicating that the other end
is what you want (i.e. the switch/device won't do full-duplex if
it doesn't receive NWay indicating that the other end isn't doing
full-duplex).  Best practice is that both ends should always be
set to auto unless there is a reason to do otherwise.  The 2924 is
an old switch so it may behave funny.  Could you set both ends to
auto/auto and see what happens?
