This looks like (extract from /usr/src/UPDATING):

20130605:
        Previous freetype installations eroneously installed private
        header files. If you are building against a non-empty $DESTDIR,
        please remove ${DESTDIR}//usr/X11R7/include/freetype2/freetype/.
