Hmmm. I tend to track the stable branch so this was on:

NetBSD t400.anduin.org.uk 6.0_STABLE NetBSD 6.0_STABLE (GENERIC) #1: Mon

So unless my make kernel/make release/make install bogged up I should 
have the fix. I still got the coloured blocks :-(

This is on a T400 with Intel video:
